Samsung is expected to launch its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, in early 2024, and rumors and leaks are already piling up. One of the latest claims is that the phone could have a flat display instead of the curved edges that have been a signature feature of Samsung’s high-end devices over the years.

According to tipster @revegnas who has a reliable track record of leaking Samsung information, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will have a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and a QHD+ resolution. The screen will also support the S Pen stylus, which was introduced in the Galaxy S series with the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

However, the most notable change is that the screen will be flat instead of curved around. This may be a welcome move for some users who find curved edges uncomfortable or prone to accidental touches. This can make the phone more durable and easier to protect with a case.

The tipster also revealed some details about the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s camera setup, which is expected to be one of the phone’s main selling points. The phone is said to feature a 200MP main camera with a larger sensor size and improved autofocus performance. The main camera will have a 50MP telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom, a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 40MP selfie camera.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will also support satellite connectivity, allowing users to make calls and send messages without relying on cellular networks. This feature can be useful in remote areas or in emergency situations where cellular coverage is unavailable.

The phone will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Exynos 2400 chipset depending on the market. Both chipsets are expected to offer significant performance and efficiency improvements over their predecessors. The phone will also have at least 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, as well as a 5,000mAh battery with fast charging support.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will likely have a premium design, with titanium sides and a glass back. The phone will come in four colors: Black, White, Silver and Purple. The phone will have an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, as well as stereo speakers and an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra costs more than its predecessor, which started at $1,199.99 / £1,249 / AU$1,949. The exact price and release date are yet to be confirmed by Samsung, but we expect to see an official announcement in January or February 2024. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting smartphone
