Samsung is gearing up for the anticipated launch of its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24, projected to make its debut in early 2024. Thanks to leaked renders, we already have a sneak peek at its design. These images, along with a 360-degree video, reveal a device featuring flat edges, a flat display, and a distinctive arrangement for its three rear cameras.

Flat Design and UWB Antenna

The leaked renders originate from the reputable tipster OnLeaks, in collaboration with GizNext and Smartprix, offering insights into the Galaxy S24’s design. According to the tipster, the Galaxy S24 will sport a 6.1-inch flat display, akin to the Galaxy S23, albeit with slight dimensional variations: 147 x 70.5 x 7.6 mm compared to the Galaxy S23’s 146.3 x 70.9 x 7.6 mm.

The device will feature flat edges, reminiscent of the iPhone 12 series, which might make it somewhat less ergonomically comfortable for certain users. The button layout remains consistent with the Galaxy S23, with the power button and volume rocker situated on the right side of the frame. A notable addition is the inclusion of a UWB (ultra-wideband) antenna on the right side, potentially facilitating more precise positioning and data transfer between devices.

Distinctive Camera Setup and LED Flash

We can observe one significant departure in the Galaxy S24’s design on its rear panel. Unlike previous models with a camera island or bar, the Galaxy S24 adopts a novel approach, featuring three standalone camera lenses, each accompanied by its own circular bump. Additionally, they have repositioned the LED flash from the side of the first camera to a location between the first and second camera.

They have not disclosed the camera specifications yet, but we expect them to either match or surpass the capabilities of the Galaxy S23’s camera system, which includes a 12 MP primary camera, a 64 MP telephoto camera, and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera. The front-facing camera will be housed within a centrally aligned punch-hole cutout on the display.

Launch Date and Additional Features

Rumors suggest that the Galaxy S24 will make its official debut on January 18, 2024, alongside the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra. This marks an earlier launch date than Samsung’s typical February or March release for flagship phones, potentially positioning the company to compete with other brands launching their devices earlier in the year.

The Galaxy S24 series is expected to introduce several notable features, including a peak brightness of 2,500 nits for the display, a significant improvement over the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 1,500 nits. There’s also speculation of a higher resolution display for the Galaxy S24+ model, promising sharper visuals. All devices in the Galaxy S24 series will run on Android 12 with Samsung’s One UI 4.0 user interface layered on top.
